The corner led Vihiniemi's Rami Viitaluoma to fire away a dangerous shot which Risto Tuominen despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 24th minute, Vihiniemi's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Henrik Kaarniemi fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 27 minutes into the game, Joni Uusikartano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vihiniemi's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Äetsä FC the free kick. Joni Uusikartano hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Yrjö Sulin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Esa Kuuttinen, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. The audience was convinced that Iiro Vanhatalo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Risto Tuominen was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. Vihiniemi's supporters rose to their feet, but Toivo Tukio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Risto Tuominen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, Vihiniemi's Yrjö Sulin got control of the ball when Henrik Kaarniemi tried to sneak it across the goal line.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Iiro Vanhatalo to make the kick off. When Antti Ihanamäki came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Vihiniemi fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Antti Ihanamäki couldn't finish the play. Henrik Kaarniemi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Yrjö Sulin having to interfere. Yrjö Sulin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Esa Kuuttinen's shot from short distance in the 60th minute. Yrjö Sulin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Henrik Kaarniemi, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Toivo Tukio hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. In the 72nd minute Iiro Vanhatalo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Risto Tuominen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 76 minutes into the match, Äetsä FC's goalkeeper Risto Tuominen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pekko Oravainen. In the 79th minute, Reko Nyrhinen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 83 minutes into the game, Aleksi Haarala was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Äetsä FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vihiniemi the free kick. In the 84th match minute, Äetsä FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aleksi Haarala to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Äetsä FC's zone, Iiro Vanhatalo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Risto Tuominen came out of the goal and Iiro Vanhatalo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 90 played minutes, Vihiniemi's Salomo Venäläinen shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Risto Tuominen came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Vihiniemi reached it. Pekko Oravainen struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Risto Tuominen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vihiniemi. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Äetsä FC had won after a very even match.
