In the 8th minute, Eerik Pitkämäki got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 13 minutes into the match, Äetsä FC's goal looked a bit too open when Atro Heinikangas came free, but Risto Tuominen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind Äetsä FC's goalkeeper Risto Tuominen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Äetsä FC's Esa Kuuttinen slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Riku Pihlanen. That made the score 1-0 after 19 minutes of play. Jääskä's Riku Pihlanen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Jääskä from getting a goal against them. In the 23rd minute, Antti Leino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Riku Pihlanen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Esa Kuuttinen, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Henrik Kaarniemi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Riku Pihlanen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Antti Leino came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Jääskä fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Antti Leino couldn't finish the play. A hard shot 45 in the game by Henrik Kaarniemi from a close distance when the talented Riku Pihlanen managed to make a qualified save. Jääskä's players were relieved. In the 47th minute of the match Sulho Nutikka sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Risto Tuominen skillfully saved the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Esa Kuuttinen to strike the kick off in the second half. When Henrik Kaarniemi fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Äetsä FC's protests and gave Henrik Kaarniemi a yellow card for diving instead. After 53 played minutes Äetsä FC got a freekick which was hit by Henrik Kaarniemi. After a defensive mix-up in Äetsä FC's zone, Atro Heinikangas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Risto Tuominen came out of the goal and Atro Heinikangas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Risto Tuominen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eerik Pitkämäki in the 61st minute. Reko Nyrhinen charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Reko Nyrhinen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Reko Nyrhinen hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Atro Heinikangas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Risto Tuominen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Riku Pihlanen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Henrik Kaarniemi, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. If Esa Kuuttinen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
