In the 6th minute, Kaapro Mäkinen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Paavo Kaukomaa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paul Lindberg in the 7th minute of the match. A collision led to New York Red Bulls getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Aku Noronen hit a great ball. Mikko Paaso, 16 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The supporters of FC PiPeCa booed when New York Red Bulls was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Niklas Ojanen didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Paul Lindberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After having played for 26 minutes, Paul Lindberg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC PiPeCa's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paul Lindberg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Vilppu Ryynänen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kaapro Mäkinen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paavo Kaukomaa having to interfere. If Paul Lindberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. FC PiPeCa's Janne Riihijärvi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save FC PiPeCa from getting a goal against them. Janne Riihijärvi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jani Henriksson in the 47th minute of play.

The corner led New York Red Bulls's Niklas Ojanen to fire away a dangerous shot which Janne Riihijärvi despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Ohto Lähtelä took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 57th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Janne Riihijärvi. FC PiPeCa's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Paul Lindberg came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the FC PiPeCa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paul Lindberg couldn't finish the play. If Kaapro Mäkinen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vilppu Ryynänen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the FC PiPeCa players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
