In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Malmsby's goalkeeper Eerik Hagelberg, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. FC Nutmeg's Rafael Höök got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 28 minutes into the game, Kauko Pihlanen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Malmsby's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Nutmeg the free kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Robert Lahikainen during the 66th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Robert Lahikainen kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Eerik Hagelberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Esa Kiprusoff, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 87thth minute of the game Esa Kiprusoff who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Malmsby's Eerik Hagelberg was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daavid Jalkanen in the 89th minute of play forced FC Nutmeg's goalkeeper Veijo Lamminen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
