The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Kim Hannukainen notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Lappohja FCa's Roni Hulkkonen. Roni Hulkkonen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ismo Häppölä got free with Pertti Leinonen in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. dfg's Riku Ollikainen got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Joonatan Niinimäki received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Roni Hulkkonen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to dfg getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Kim Hannukainen hit a great ball. Roni Koivuranta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Roni Hulkkonen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Visa Eklund in the 39th minute of play. Pertti Leinonen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ismo Häppölä in the 41st minute. Roni Hulkkonen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kim Hannukainen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Lappohja FCa's zone, Riku Ollikainen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roni Hulkkonen came out of the goal and Riku Ollikainen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Visa Eklund stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Ismo Häppölä came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Lappohja FCa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ismo Häppölä couldn't finish the play. When Launo Väätäinen fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored dfg's protests and gave Launo Väätäinen a yellow card for diving instead. Launo Väätäinen kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Pertti Leinonen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roni Koivuranta, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Lappohja FCa's much stronger midfield.
