The audience thought a goal was coming when Ismo Rahkola got free with Ylermi Kanto in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd rose to their feet as Fc Puolipupeltajat's Reima Heinikallio slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ylermi Kanto. That made the score 1-0 after 9 minutes of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Erkki Puranen during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Erkki Puranen kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. Reima Heinikallio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ylermi Kanto having to interfere. After 22 played minutes Strandbyn got a freekick which was hit by Erno Puurula. In the 28th minute, Fc Puolipupeltajat's Ismo Rahkola dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. In the 31st minute, Fc Puolipupeltajat's Taisto Lahti dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. Strandbyn's Ylermi Kanto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Strandbyn from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Fc Puolipupeltajat's zone, Markku Ahmaoja stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Terho Pursiainen came out of the goal and Markku Ahmaoja tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Strandbyn's Arsi Kaitainen got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Arsi Kaitainen made a kick off. Strandbyn's Erkki Puranen managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Tomi Vento in the 52 minute of the game. Torsti Esala kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. After 59 minutes, Petri Lehto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Strandbyn and the Fc Puolipupeltajat players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 59 played minutes Strandbyn got a freekick which was hit by Petri Lehto. Terho Pursiainen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arsi Kaitainen, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Ylermi Kanto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Taisto Lahti in the 66th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Strandbyn defense, Ismo Rahkola kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ylermi Kanto. The Strandbyn fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ylermi Kanto should have stopped the shot. 72 minutes into the match, Strandbyn's goal looked a bit too open when Tomi Vento came free, but Ylermi Kanto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Torsti Esala scored 5-0 in the 76th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ylermi Kanto, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Arsi Kaitainen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Strandbyn were furious when Ari Viander was red carded, 84 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 84 minutes into the game, one of Strandbyn:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 87th minute there was a penalty for Fc Puolipupeltajat. Mikko Santala stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Ylermi Kanto. 6-0. Strandbyn's Heikki Kaipainen managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Tero Vappula in the 93 minute of the game. Ylermi Kanto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reima Heinikallio in the 97th minute of play. There was no doubt that Fc Puolipupeltajat were the better team. Fc Puolipupeltajat's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
