The supporters of Saarimäki FC booed when FC Jazz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hannu Brunila didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sauli Forss took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valio Kiviranta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After taking down the ball on FC Jazz's corner Sakari Ahmaoja fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Sauli Forss quite easily take care of the ball. In the 45th minute, FC Jazz's Valio Kiviranta dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.
