Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Rauli Vatanen made the kick off and thus started the match. 6 minutes into the match, Ajax Ajax's goal looked a bit too open when Rauli Vatanen came free, but Kaleva Heinola reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 6th match minute, Ajax Ajax was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valto Lehto to maneuver through the defense. Mika Reinikainen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 11th minute Panu Kangasniemi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Saku Sanevuori saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Saku Sanevuori showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Panu Kangasniemi in the 12th minute of the match. With a little luck, Mätäsvaara IFK's Saku Sanevuori got control of the ball when Panu Kangasniemi tried to sneak it across the goal line. The Mätäsvaara IFK fans' excitement grew in the 21st match minute when Mätäsvaara IFK's Rauli Vatanen looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Ajax Ajax's Kaleva Heinola played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rauli Vatanen in the 23rd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Rauli Vatanen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kaleva Heinola was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. 27 minutes into the match, Eemeli Hiedanpää had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Saku Sanevuori. Mätäsvaara IFK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eemeli Hiedanpää was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Valto Lehto got free with Saku Sanevuori in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rauli Vatanen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Kaleva Heinola tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 36 minutes into the game, Ajax Ajax's Eemeli Hiedanpää nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Saku Sanevuori made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Saku Sanevuori made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rafael Kiprusoff in the 42nd minute of play. 46 minutes into the game, Rafael Kiprusoff cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Saku Sanevuori was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rafael Kiprusoff stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Kaleva Heinola was a little too slow when Rauli Vatanen got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 52nd minute. The score was now 3-2. Rauli Vatanen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Kaleva Heinola tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Anttoni Koivu kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Mätäsvaara IFK's Mika Reinikainen got a free kick in the 69th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rafael Kiprusoff in the 70th minute of play forced Mätäsvaara IFK's goalkeeper Saku Sanevuori to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mätäsvaara IFK's Saku Sanevuori played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valentin Juujärvi in the 74th minute of play. In the 76thth minute of the game Rauli Vatanen who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ajax Ajax's Kaleva Heinola was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 78 minutes of play, Ajax Ajax's Eemeli Hiedanpää made it 4-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Saku Sanevuori was left in no man's land by his defense there! 85 minutes into the match, Ajax Ajax's goalkeeper Kaleva Heinola had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kari Jaakkola. Anttoni Koivu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Kaleva Heinola made a huge save. After some careless play in the Mätäsvaara IFK defense, Eemeli Hiedanpää kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Saku Sanevuori. The Mätäsvaara IFK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Saku Sanevuori should have stopped the shot. In the 96th minute, Ilmo Ahmaoja got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Ajax Ajax fans cheered their team off the field, for while Mätäsvaara IFK had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
