Alvar Kiprusoff started the match with the kick off. After 3 minutes of play, Villmanstrand's Jonni Nylund made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Filomeno Fiz was left in no man's land by his defense there! Iikka Sanevuori hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. When Pentti Halminen came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the Kosamo FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pentti Halminen couldn't finish the play. Atro Kuusela acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 17th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Simo Kangasalusta. 19 minutes into the match, Kosamo FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jonni Nylund came free, but Filomeno Fiz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Jonni Nylund had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 26 minutes of play, Villmanstrand's Alvar Kiprusoff made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Filomeno Fiz was left in no man's land by his defense there! 32 minutes into the match, Alvar Kiprusoff had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Filomeno Fiz. Kosamo FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alvar Kiprusoff was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. After 43 minutes of play, Villmanstrand's Jonni Nylund made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Filomeno Fiz was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Jonni Nylund had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Pentti Halminen to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Aarre Saastamoinen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Cyrille Hetzel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 61st minute, Alvar Kiprusoff got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Kosamo FC's zone, Jonni Nylund stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Filomeno Fiz came out of the goal and Jonni Nylund tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alvar Kiprusoff struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Filomeno Fiz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Villmanstrand. Kosamo FC's Filomeno Fiz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonni Nylund in the 69th minute of play. In the 71st minute, Miko Pylkäs hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 74 minutes had been played when some careless play by Villmanstrand's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Samuel Niemivirta was slow to take the kick. During this time Kosamo FC's players had a chance to rest. When the match had gone on for 78 minutes, Jonni Nylund took a quick shot and it went in 0-5 without a chance for Filomeno Fiz to make any attempt to save it. After a rather tough play, Kosamo FC's Vesa Kinnaslampi got a free kick in the 81st minute. Atro Kuusela made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aarre Kylmänen in the 84th minute of play. In the 85th minute Jonni Nylund shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Filomeno Fiz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
