The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Alvi Kokkila showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kerkko Räikkönen in the 5th minute of the match. Paavo Vaakanainen kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. After 9 played minutes Heinolahti FC got a freekick which was hit by Rauli Paavola. Alvi Kokkila showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rauli Paavola in the 18th minute of the match. Heikki Lumijärvi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Alvi Kokkila tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 22nd match minute, Otavan Otsot was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emanuel Aldea to maneuver through the defense. Jan Elovaara struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alvi Kokkila prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 31 minutes into the match, Otavan Otsot's Ensio Snellman sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alfred Caspersson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Alvi Kokkila made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jan Elovaara in the 35th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Otavan Otsot's Paavo Vaakanainen got a free kick in the 36th minute. In the 38th minute Rauli Paavola shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alvi Kokkila saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Heinolahti FC's Rauli Paavola in the 43rd minute got a chance for a shot 43rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Otavan Otsot's goalie prevented a goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

57 minutes into the match, Otavan Otsot's goalkeeper Alvi Kokkila had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rauli Paavola. An unexpected shot in the 60th minute by Juha Ripatti got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Rauli Paavola received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Alvi Kokkila tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 65 minutes into the match, Heikki Lumijärvi notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Otavan Otsot's Alvi Kokkila. Alvi Kokkila was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Otavan Otsot's Alvi Kokkila proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Otavan Otsot from getting a goal against them. After having played for 71 minutes, Heikki Lumijärvi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Heinolahti FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Heikki Lumijärvi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jan Elovaara got free with Alvi Kokkila in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Otavan Otsot booed when Heinolahti FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ari Litja didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alfred Caspersson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henri Snellman in the 83rd minute of play. Heikki Lumijärvi took the ball and in the 84 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alvi Kokkila. Alvi Kokkila dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 89th minute, Otavan Otsot's Paavo Vaakanainen seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Paavo Vaakanainen the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Otavan Otsot protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Paavo Vaakanainen had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Alvi Kokkila had in the 90thth minute some difficulties stopping Heikki Lumijärvi's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. With a little luck, Otavan Otsot's Alvi Kokkila got control of the ball when Juha Ripatti tried to sneak it across the goal line. Otavan Otsot's Alvi Kokkila played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rauli Paavola in the 97th minute of play. 98 minutes had been played when some careless play by Otavan Otsot's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Heikki Lumijärvi was slow to take the kick. During this time Heinolahti FC's players had a chance to rest. Heinolahti FC's Heikki Lumijärvi was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Alvi Kokkila in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in.
