The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Bernhard Vanapoiss had in the 15thth minute some difficulties stopping Eikki Alamaa's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Bernhard Vanapoiss made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hardo Kannisto in the 21st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Helmut Post in the 23rd minute of play forced SK Riidakula's goalkeeper Bernhard Vanapoiss to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 25 minutes into the game, FC Gillingham's Gerd Kaar nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Bernhard Vanapoiss made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Bernhard Vanapoiss made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gerd Kaar in the 29th minute of play. SK Riidakula's Bernhard Vanapoiss played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hardo Kannisto in the 30th minute of play. When Ilmar Palts came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the SK Riidakula fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ilmar Palts couldn't finish the play. 46 minutes into the match, SK Riidakula's goal looked a bit too open when Helmut Post came free, but Bernhard Vanapoiss reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, SK Riidakula's Ilmar Palts got a free kick in the 47th minute. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rait Kask stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 54 played minutes Hardo Kannisto rounded SK Riidakula's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-2. Olaf Nahk blasted a shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Osvald Õispuu having to make a save. Osvald Õispuu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rait Kask in the 65th minute of play. 70 minutes into the match, FC Gillingham's goal looked a bit too open when Rait Kask came free, but Osvald Õispuu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 81 played minutes SK Riidakula got a freekick which was hit by Olaf Nahk. After 83 played minutes, FC Gillingham's Eikki Alamaa shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Bernhard Vanapoiss came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Gillingham reached it. In the 88th minute Rait Kask shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Osvald Õispuu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 88 minutes into the game, Rait Kask cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Osvald Õispuu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to FC Gillingham getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Harri Mäe hit a great ball. Osvald Õispuu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rait Kask in the 94th minute of the match. The FC Gillingham supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing FC Gillingham would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
