Helari Tomat fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raimo Lehis having to interfere. Erki Marja sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Raimo Lehis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erki Marja in the 12th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erki Marja in the 16th minute of play forced Merja FC's goalkeeper Raimo Lehis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 19 minutes, Ander Arro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Viru Wõitlejad and the Merja FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 19th minute, Ander Arro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 21 minutes into the match, Viru Wõitlejad's goalkeeper Egon Eesti had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lennart Teras. Lennart Teras fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Egon Eesti having to interfere. 26 minutes into the game, Kalju Kroon was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Viru Wõitlejad's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Merja FC the free kick. 27 minutes into the match, Merja FC's Meelis Laaneoks broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. A collision led to Viru Wõitlejad getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Ander Arro hit a great ball. In the 35th minute, Merja FC's Valdur Pärnaku dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. In the 39th minute Helari Tomat shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raimo Lehis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Helari Tomat's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Raimo Lehis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. In the 48th minute Helari Tomat shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raimo Lehis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Valdur Pärnaku to strike the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes Viru Wõitlejad got a freekick which was hit by Jan Lille. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valdur Pärnaku in the 57th minute of play forced Viru Wõitlejad's goalkeeper Egon Eesti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Viru Wõitlejad's Egon Eesti played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdur Pärnaku in the 58th minute of play. Lennart Teras fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Egon Eesti having to interfere. When Lennart Teras came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Merja FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lennart Teras couldn't finish the play. Helari Tomat fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raimo Lehis having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Erki Marja in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Raimo Lehis saved Merja FC from getting behind. The supporters of Viru Wõitlejad booed when Merja FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tarmo Härg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Viru Wõitlejad's Kalju Kroon couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 71st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Merja FC. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erki Marja in the 77th minute of play forced Merja FC's goalkeeper Raimo Lehis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Oliver Eiber hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. It was beautiful to see Merja FC's Meelis Laaneoks in action when he in the 82nd minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! The Merja FC fans' excitement grew in the 85th match minute when Merja FC's Lennart Teras looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a rather tough play, Merja FC's Taavi Põder got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Viru Wõitlejad's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
