The referee ignored SC Veretina's protests and gave Kaupo Lekk a yellow card for diving instead. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Veretina's goalkeeper Rainer Kampus, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rainer Kampus stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pearu Ansip's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. If Elmu Annion had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 29 minutes, Aadu Rohumaa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Veretina and the Vahtseliina FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Alo Nugis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Pearu Ansip to strike the kick off in the second half. Rainer Kampus made an important save on a dangerous shot by Elmu Annion in the 51st minute. The supporters of SC Veretina booed when Vahtseliina FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kunnar Mari didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Alo Nugis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
