The tension between the JK Põltsamaa Sport and the the newbies team players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 8 played minutes JK Põltsamaa Sport got a freekick which was hit by Jörgen Kuningas. Lembit Vint acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 20th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Valmar Saamatu. In the 21st minute Alo Teras shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lembit Vint saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Maido Vahtra was extremely unlucky when he, in the 22nd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. After a rather tough play, the newbies team's Argo Hein got a free kick in the 26th minute. JK Põltsamaa Sport's Maido Vahtra got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alo Teras struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Lembit Vint didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for JK Põltsamaa Sport. Egon Veetamm showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sten Marja, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. 33 minutes into the match, the newbies team's goalkeeper Lembit Vint had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Maido Vahtra. When Alo Teras came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the JK Põltsamaa Sport fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alo Teras couldn't finish the play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Maido Vahtra in the 90th minute of play forced the newbies team's goalkeeper Lembit Vint to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. the newbies team's Lembit Vint played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maido Vahtra in the 92nd minute of play. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
