The referee ignored Bananaslips's protests and gave Vambola Hindremäe a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Bananaslips getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Vambola Hindremäe hit a great ball. If Alo Teras had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Edmund Naaskel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Maido Vahtra could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Udo Rammul made a huge save. JK Põltsamaa Sport's Arto Virkus suffered a sore foot after 22 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Kaur Saia hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. After having played for 27 minutes, Edmund Naaskel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bananaslips's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edmund Naaskel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in JK Põltsamaa Sport's zone, Edmund Naaskel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Egon Veetamm came out of the goal and Edmund Naaskel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Raimo Mäetaguse blasted a shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Egon Veetamm having to make a save. When Raimo Mäetaguse came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Bananaslips fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Raimo Mäetaguse couldn't finish the play. Egon Veetamm took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raimo Mäetaguse, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Edmund Naaskel to strike the kick off in the second half. Raimo Mäetaguse sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 63rd minute, Edmund Naaskel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 67th minute, Jörgen Kuningas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Edmund Naaskel managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bananaslips's supporters rose to their feet, but Edmund Naaskel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Egon Veetamm breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Bananaslips's zone, Eimar Murelik stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Udo Rammul came out of the goal and Eimar Murelik tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of JK Põltsamaa Sport booed when Bananaslips was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tambet Liib didn't get a good kick on the ball.
