Kolonos Pantelas struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Seleykos Sakelaris didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AEL Limassol. After 22 played minutes, AEL Limassol's Akis Kyritsis shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Seleykos Sakelaris came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in AEL Limassol reached it. 26 minutes into the match, Argiris Varvitsiotes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Seleykos Sakelaris. Liverpool f.c's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Argiris Varvitsiotes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Argiris Varvitsiotes in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Seleykos Sakelaris saved Liverpool f.c from getting behind. Iosif Mitsinikos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Liverpool f.c's Iosif Mitsinikos got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 40 played minutes AEL Limassol got a freekick which was hit by Iolkos Giouzelis. A collision led to AEL Limassol getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Iolkos Giouzelis hit a great ball. Charalambos Koumanidis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Iosif Mitsinikos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Labdakos Samios came free with the goalkeeper in the 48th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Charalambos Koumanidis could save by the left post. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Argiris Varvitsiotes was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Liverpool f.c's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Kolonos Pantelas fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Charalambos Koumanidis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 96 played minutes AEL Limassol got a freekick which was hit by Haimon Avgerinos. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
