Gottfrid Hedström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alkibiades Kutras in the 10th minute of the match. 13 minutes into the match, ΑΙΕΝ ΥΨΙΚΡΑΤΕΙΝ's goal looked a bit too open when Ruud Nistelrooy came free, but Gottfrid Hedström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Ertan Duman kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Antonis Nikopolidis. That made the score 1-0 in the 15 minute of play. Nea Salamis's Antonis Nikopolidis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Nea Salamis from getting a goal against them. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ertan Duman in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Antonis Nikopolidis saved Nea Salamis from getting behind. 38 minutes had been played when some careless play by Nea Salamis's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ray Atkins was slow to take the kick. During this time ΑΙΕΝ ΥΨΙΚΡΑΤΕΙΝ's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on ΑΙΕΝ ΥΨΙΚΡΑΤΕΙΝ's corner Pavlos Belesis fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Antonis Nikopolidis quite easily take care of the ball. 46 minutes into the match, Ertan Duman notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Nea Salamis's Antonis Nikopolidis. Antonis Nikopolidis was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ertan Duman to make the kick off. ΑΙΕΝ ΥΨΙΚΡΑΤΕΙΝ's Besim Vecdet was substituted for Ertan Duman. Gottfrid Hedström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luciano Gallet, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
