An unexpectedly hard shot by Everardo Abreu in the 12th minute of play forced OMONOIA's goalkeeper Koios Panayiotopoulos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Matias Araújo to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute of the match, Pipo Inzaghi got a very nice opportunity to score, but Koios Panayiotopoulos was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Matias Araújo in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Antonis Nikopolidis prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind OMONOIA's goalkeeper Koios Panayiotopoulos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 78 minutes into the match, OMONOIA's Matias Araújo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Antonis Nikopolidis narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Nea Salamis's Antonis Nikopolidis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matias Araújo in the 79th minute of play. Antonis Nikopolidis made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Nea Salamis's Darko Kovačević was substituted for Pipo Inzaghi.
