In the 36th minute, Spiro Milenov ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tzonko Burilkov was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. In the 46th minute, Vihar Gladichev hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tzonko Burilkov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Parvan Chilikov, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. After the first half Juventus were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Lyubcho Karavasilev in the 67th minute of play forced Juventus's goalkeeper Karamfil Lovdzhiev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 67 played minutes Juventus got a freekick which was hit by Spiro Milenov. Spiro Milenov hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. When Yani Hadzhistefanov fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored manchester united's protests and gave Yani Hadzhistefanov a yellow card for diving instead. Juventus played a much better game than manchester united and deserved their victory. The manchester united players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
