Doncho Pashkov acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 11th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Asparuh Trendafilov. 12 minutes into the match, Sanovo's goal looked a bit too open when Raycho Kotov came free, but Doncho Pashkov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 21st match minute, FC Dunav Ruse was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tinko Kachaunov to maneuver through the defense. Sanovo's Raycho Vushkov got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomislav Cherepov to make the kick off. Galin Mushanov charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Raycho Vushkov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Raycho Kotov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 99th minute. Doncho Pashkov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Sanovo walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
