FC Real Madrid's Teodor Mikov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Spiro Babov in the 10th minute of play. Zlatko Kaloyanov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Avgust Durev tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gavril Predoev hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Avgust Durev took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Penko Andreev, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 16th minute, Tzvetan Miloslavov got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Avgust Durev made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Penko Andreev in the 19th minute of play. A collision led to FC Real Madrid getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Zlatko Kaloyanov hit a great ball. Stoyne Videnov scored 0-2 in the 26th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Avgust Durev, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Penko Andreev sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Zlatko Kaloyanov came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the FC Real Madrid fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zlatko Kaloyanov couldn't finish the play. The FC Real Madrid fans' excitement grew in the 35th match minute when FC Real Madrid's Bozhko Tenekedzhiev looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Penko Andreev fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Avgust Durev having to interfere. Penko Andreev sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bozhko Tenekedzhiev in the 44th minute of play forced Челси's goalkeeper Avgust Durev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Spiro Babov made a kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Челси's zone, Penko Andreev stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Avgust Durev came out of the goal and Penko Andreev tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Penko Andreev struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Avgust Durev didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Real Madrid. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bozhko Tenekedzhiev in the 64th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Avgust Durev saved Челси from getting behind. Beloslav Pamukov charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Beloslav Pamukov the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 65th minute, Beloslav Pamukov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bozhko Tenekedzhiev had several of the Челси's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 69 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-4 score and a disappointed Avgust Durev as he didn't even see the shot coming. With a little luck, Челси's Avgust Durev got control of the ball when Bozhko Tenekedzhiev tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 75th minute, Челси's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Penko Andreev fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Avgust Durev came out and tried to block the shot, but Bozhko Tenekedzhiev slotted it home off the left post making it 0-5 in the 84th minute. Avgust Durev made an important save on a dangerous shot by Biser Nedelchev in the 87th minute. 89 minutes into the match, Челси's goal looked a bit too open when Penko Andreev came free, but Avgust Durev reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 92 minutes into the game, Bozhko Tenekedzhiev cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-6. Avgust Durev was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Penko Andreev in the 95th minute of play forced Челси's goalkeeper Avgust Durev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match was over FC Real Madrid could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Челси throughout the match.
