The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 6 minutes, Ilko Draganov managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The supporters of US Citta di PALERMO booed when FC Vyetren was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nano Dafov didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 16 played minutes FC Vyetren got a freekick which was hit by Nano Dafov. Yanek Ranchinski sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Borimir Zarichinov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chudomir Zayakov having to interfere. US Citta di PALERMO's Chudomir Zayakov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Borimir Zarichinov in the 27th minute of play. Chudomir Zayakov came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Vyetren's Borimir Zarichinov. But to his dismay, Borimir Zarichinov quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Chudomir Zayakov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ilko Draganov, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Tzanyo Stranski hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Ilko Draganov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Borimir Zarichinov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chudomir Zayakov having to interfere. A collision led to FC Vyetren getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Velko Bozhev hit a great ball. Hristofor Berkov, 47 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Borimir Zarichinov to make the kick off. Borimir Zarichinov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chudomir Zayakov having to interfere. Borimir Zarichinov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Chudomir Zayakov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 67 minutes into the match, US Citta di PALERMO's goal looked a bit too open when Borimir Zarichinov came free, but Chudomir Zayakov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 70 played minutes FC Vyetren got a freekick which was hit by Velko Bozhev. If Yanek Ranchinski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 82 minutes into the match, FC Vyetren's Ilko Draganov sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Chudomir Zayakov narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Mladen Mandev showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Damyan Marangozov in the 93rd minute of the match. With 96 minutes on the clock, Stoycho Popinski commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. When the final whistle sounded FC Vyetren left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than US Citta di PALERMO.
