FC Marefler's Lyubcho Bubov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Slavyan Rusanov in the 4th minute of play. Lyubcho Bubov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Slavyan Rusanov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Slavyan Rusanov struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Lyubcho Bubov didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Galatasaray. After 11 played minutes Galatasaray got a freekick which was hit by Lozan Mutev. If Vladimir Kirov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 18 minutes into the match, Galatasaray's goal looked a bit too open when Stefan Lambadzhiev came free, but Albert Izov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 33 played minutes FC Marefler got a freekick which was hit by Apostol Dandov. After a defensive mix-up in FC Marefler's zone, Slavyan Rusanov stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lyubcho Bubov came out of the goal and Slavyan Rusanov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 35th minute, Galatasaray's Anani Ilkov dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Slavyan Rusanov in the 40th minute of play forced FC Marefler's goalkeeper Lyubcho Bubov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lyubcho Bubov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Slavyan Rusanov in the 45th minute of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Slavyan Rusanov to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Slavyan Rusanov managed to get in a good position for a shot. Galatasaray's supporters rose to their feet, but Slavyan Rusanov was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lyubcho Bubov breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Slavyan Rusanov's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lyubcho Bubov was relentless in the 66th minute of the game. Lyubcho Bubov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Slavyan Rusanov in the 68th minute of the match. Lozan Mutev's late challenge caught a FC Marefler's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lozan Mutev helped the player get up and apologised. Lozan Mutev hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. Stefan Lambadzhiev fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albert Izov having to interfere. Anastas Kavaldzhiev hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. Slavyan Rusanov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Lyubcho Bubov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lyubcho Bubov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Slavyan Rusanov in the 86th minute of play. Radomir Garvanskis short, quick shot in the 88thth minute got Albert Izov to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in.
