Spectators: 6936 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1936, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Razi Qalander started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the game, Khurram Shah was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ashton-under-Lyne's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Frinton the free kick. In a very dangerous position, a player in Ashton-under-Lyne fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 3rd minute. Penalty! Ashton-under-Lyne's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Andre Rothwell 10 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. In the 17th minute Razi Qalander shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rich Ansell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Bobby Winterburn came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Frinton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bobby Winterburn couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Ashton-under-Lyne's Mubashar Ghiaz got a free kick in the 25th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Ashton-under-Lyne's zone, Andre Rothwell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zain Meman came out of the goal and Andre Rothwell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Stevie Davison during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Stevie Davison kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. In the 37th minute the ball was on its way in behind Frinton's goalkeeper Rich Ansell, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rich Ansell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Razi Qalander in the 38th minute of play. Zain Meman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andre Rothwell in the 42nd minute of play. Andre Rothwell received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Zain Meman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Andre Rothwell was the one to do the kick off. The Frinton fans' excitement grew in the 58th match minute when Frinton's Andre Rothwell looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Rich Ansell took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Razi Qalander, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Zain Meman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bobby Winterburn in the 69th minute of the match. In the 70th match minute, Ashton-under-Lyne was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mubashar Ghiaz to maneuver through the defense. Zain Meman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bobby Winterburn, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Bobby Winterburn managed to get in a good position for a shot. Frinton's supporters rose to their feet, but Bobby Winterburn was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zain Meman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 84th minute Razi Qalander shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rich Ansell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zain Meman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bobby Winterburn in the 85th minute of play. Ashton-under-Lyne's Zain Meman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bobby Winterburn in the 90th minute of play. Andre Rothwell recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the Ashton-under-Lyne players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Frinton.
