The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Hatta Club 1981 getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Haitham Al Fadhalah hit a great ball. Mohammad Al Ghanem charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mohammad Al Ghanem the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 7th match minute, Al Dhaid SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mohammad Al Ghanem to maneuver through the defense. 10 minutes into the match, Motlaq Al Ghanem had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Salim Al Mehana. Hatta Club 1981's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Motlaq Al Ghanem was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Shehab Abo Al Hasan in the 13thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Salim Al Mehana, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Shehab Abo Al Hasan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Salim Al Mehana made a huge save. After 17 minutes of play Hatta Club 1981's Haitham Al Fadhalah was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 20th minute, Mosab Al Harban fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Salim Al Mehana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Motlaq Al Ghanem in the 23rd minute of play. If Shehab Abo Al Hasan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Al Dhaid SC booed when Hatta Club 1981 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Firas Al Muwail didn't get a good kick on the ball. Al Dhaid SC's Saed Kakoli shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 39th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Salim Al Mehana but with some difficulty. If Hussain Bo Hamad had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Shehab Abo Al Hasan to make the kick off. Salim Al Mehana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Saed Kakoli, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 53 minutes into the match, Al Dhaid SC's Shehab Abo Al Hasan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Salim Al Mehana narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Hatta Club 1981's zone, Awwad Al Bloshi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Salim Al Mehana came out of the goal and Awwad Al Bloshi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Saed Kakoli during the 65th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 65th match minute, Al Dhaid SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Saed Kakoli to maneuver through the defense. Jarah Al Holey sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 72nd minute Mosab Al Harban shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Salim Al Mehana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Motlaq Al Ghanem in the 76th minute of play forced Hatta Club 1981's goalkeeper Salim Al Mehana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 76th minute, Awwad Al Bloshi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Jarah Al Holey came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Hatta Club 1981 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jarah Al Holey couldn't finish the play. Jarah Al Holey hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Salim Al Mehana showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Saed Kakoli, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. 84 minutes into the game, Jarah Al Holey was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hatta Club 1981's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Al Dhaid SC the free kick. After 84 played minutes Hatta Club 1981 got a freekick which was hit by Jarah Al Holey. If Jarah Al Holey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 97th minute, Shehab Abo Al Hasan made a precise shot to the right of Salim Al Mehana. Hatta Club 1981's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Hatta Club 1981's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
