Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Timur Timofeev in the 4th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Filimon Mileshko prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Anton Dizhbak fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Filimon Mileshko having to interfere. In the 13th minute, Anton Dizhbak got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Filimon Mileshko showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anton Dizhbak in the 20th minute of the match. Anton Dizhbak sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Filimon Mileshko showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Timur Timofeev, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. If Anton Dizhbak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 34th minute, Maksim Torshin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Filimon Mileshko made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anton Dizhbak in the 35th minute of play. In the 35th match minute, University of Cambridge was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leonid Nikolaev to maneuver through the defense. Timur Timofeev received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Filimon Mileshko tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to University of Cambridge getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. German Demin hit a great ball. If Anton Dizhbak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 43rd minute of the match Vladimir Lagutenko shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Filimon Mileshko showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Timur Timofeev might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Filimon Mileshko. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Timur Timofeev ran back to his position shaking his head. Anton Dizhbak received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Filimon Mileshko tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ippolit Dobrovolskiy to make the kick off. University of Cambridge's Ippolit Dobrovolskiy got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Timur Timofeev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Filimon Mileshko made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anton Dizhbak in the 64th minute of play. In the 65th minute, Demyan Neverovskiy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, University of Cambridge's Filimon Mileshko got control of the ball when Timur Timofeev tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 72 minutes of play University of Cambridge's German Demin was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 73 played minutes University of Cambridge got a freekick which was hit by German Demin. Timur Timofeev fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Filimon Mileshko having to interfere. Timur Timofeev sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Stanislav Globa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ippolit Dobrovolskiy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With splendid footwork Anton Dizhbak arrived in front of goal to shoot 0-1 by the left pole in the game's 90th minute. Timur Timofeev received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Filimon Mileshko tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded Whitwell left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than University of Cambridge.
