In the 20th minute of the match Konstantin Abertasov sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gerasim Kotov skillfully saved the ball. Olivier Rast fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mark Van De Broeck having to interfere. Gerasim Kotov breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Márton Irmai stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee ignored GÓRNIK ZABRZE's protests and gave Márton Irmai a yellow card for diving instead.
