Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Travis Barker started the match with the kick off. Sam Farmer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Ulverston getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Matthew Hitchcock hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Glen Beckett in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ross Holmes saved Ulverston from getting behind. Gordon Haigh's shot from long distance in the 15th minute was not bad at all, but Great Leighs's Austen Bourton knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. 19 minutes into the match, Ulverston's goal looked a bit too open when Glen Beckett came free, but Ross Holmes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vinnie Hampton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Ross Holmes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Glen Beckett sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 28th minute, Glen Beckett left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Great Leighs fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. The supporters of Ulverston booed when Great Leighs was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kris Lamb didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Ulverston's zone, Vinnie Hampton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ross Holmes came out of the goal and Vinnie Hampton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 35th minute, Vinnie Hampton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 49 minutes into the match, Vinnie Hampton had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ross Holmes. Ulverston's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Vinnie Hampton was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Vinnie Hampton to strike the kick off in the second half. Vinnie Hampton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Ross Holmes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Glen Beckett sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ulverston's Ross Holmes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Ulverston from getting a goal against them. The Great Leighs fans' excitement grew in the 64th match minute when Great Leighs's Vinnie Hampton looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-5 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Ulverston's Ross Holmes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vinnie Hampton in the 69th minute of play. In the 69th minute, Travis Barker hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Glen Beckett could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Ross Holmes made a huge save. Travis Barker hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Glen Beckett let the left foot speak when in front of goal in the 74th minute shot 0-6 at rihgt post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Glen Beckett got free with Ross Holmes in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 78th minute, one of Ulverston:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Ulverston. Vinnie Hampton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 85 minutes into the match, Ulverston's goal looked a bit too open when Vinnie Hampton came free, but Ross Holmes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Glen Beckett got free with Ross Holmes in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Vinnie Hampton came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Great Leighs fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vinnie Hampton couldn't finish the play. Ross Holmes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vinnie Hampton in the 93rd minute of the match. Vinnie Hampton recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Vinnie Hampton struck a weak shot in the 100th minute. Ross Holmes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Great Leighs. Great Leighs's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
