Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Bruce Mortimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Geoff Salt might have been able to make a better finish in the 5th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jamie Wakefield. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Geoff Salt ran back to his position shaking his head. Bruce Mortimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Geoff Salt blasted a shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jamie Wakefield having to make a save. If Thomas Connery had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sidney Turner took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Thomas Connery, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sidney Turner showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thomas Connery in the 15th minute of the match. Jamie Wakefield made an important save on a dangerous shot by Geoff Salt in the 20th minute. Jamie Wakefield showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bruce Mortimer in the 25th minute of the match. After 26 played minutes Bruce Mortimer rounded Halton Holegate's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. If Bruce Mortimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 41 minutes, Geoff Salt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Smisby's supporters crossed their fingers, but Geoff Salt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bruce Mortimer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jamie Wakefield having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Thomas Connery made a kick off. Halton Holegate's Jamie Wakefield played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bruce Mortimer in the 51st minute of play. In the 54th minute Geoff Salt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jamie Wakefield saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 57 minutes, Marlon Cross managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Smisby's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marlon Cross was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Geoff Salt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 64 minutes into the match, Bruce Mortimer had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jamie Wakefield. Halton Holegate's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bruce Mortimer was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. In the 71st minute, Marlon Cross ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jamie Wakefield was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Geoff Salt in the 76th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jamie Wakefield prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 78 minutes into the match, Martyn Colt dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Sidney Turner, 3-1. In the 82nd minute Bruce Mortimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jamie Wakefield saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jamie Wakefield showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Geoff Salt in the 83rd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Smisby's Marlon Cross got a free kick in the 85th minute. 88 minutes into the match, Smisby's Bruce Mortimer sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jamie Wakefield narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Vinnie Wardman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee ended the match the Smisby players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
