Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Geoff Sullivan made the kick off which started today's match. Tod Gale took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicholas Mead, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Stan Leather recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Phillip Dove received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Jimmy Lydiate tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Geoff Sullivan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jimmy Lydiate was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. The audience thought a goal was coming when Phillip Dove got free with Jimmy Lydiate in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Joseph Harland took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 18th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jimmy Lydiate. Morden's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Morden's Nicholas Mead got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 27th minute, Micheal Childs hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Matt Couch hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nicholas Mead in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tod Gale saved Chelmsford from getting behind. Morden's Jimmy Lydiate proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 49th minute of the match, managed to save Morden from getting a goal against them. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Phillip Dove sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Morden's zone, Phillip Dove stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jimmy Lydiate came out of the goal and Phillip Dove tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 69 minutes into the match, Morden's Charlie Pointon sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tod Gale narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jimmy Lydiate showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Phillip Dove in the 74th minute of the match. When Stan Leather fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Chelmsford's protests and gave Stan Leather a yellow card for diving instead. Jimmy Lydiate showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Geoff Sullivan in the 82nd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Morden's Louie Mead got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Phillip Dove received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute.
