Spectators: 8000 (Terracing: 6000, Seating: 1840, VIP seats: 160) Castletown's Ricky Oldham started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Tod Gale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oscar Lowe in the 5th minute of play. The supporters of Chelmsford booed when Castletown was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jeremy Hampton didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 10th match minute, Chelmsford was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Matt Couch to maneuver through the defense. 12 minutes into the match, Castletown's goal looked a bit too open when Geoff Sullivan came free, but Vincent Frampton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Matt Couch kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. In the 24th minute, Sammy Langdon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 24th minute of the match Lance Pearson sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Vincent Frampton skillfully saved the ball. When Geoff Sullivan came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Chelmsford fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Geoff Sullivan couldn't finish the play. Castletown's Vincent Frampton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Phillip Dove in the 27th minute of play. Phillip Dove struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Vincent Frampton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chelmsford. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geoff Sullivan in the 36th minute of play forced Castletown's goalkeeper Vincent Frampton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jordan Easton's late challenge caught a Chelmsford's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jordan Easton helped the player get up and apologised. In the 37th minute, Jordan Easton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vincent Frampton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Phillip Dove, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Geoff Sullivan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jordan Easton kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. 46 minutes had been played when some careless play by Castletown's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Lance Pearson was slow to take the kick. During this time Chelmsford's players had a chance to rest.

The wind increased when Geoff Sullivan made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Chelmsford's Phillip Dove got a free kick in the 52nd minute. In the 57th minute Ricky Oldham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tod Gale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Oscar Lowe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. During the 67th minute of the match Matt Couch completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Matt Couch a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 69 played minutes Chelmsford got a freekick which was hit by Matt Couch. Donny Sheringham charged in rather forcefully in the 71st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Donny Sheringham the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 71 minutes into the game, one of Chelmsford:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Chelmsford:s Tod Gale showed great skill when he stopped Terry Tipton:s penalty. Tod Gale came out of the goal in the 72nd minute to try and stop a shot by Castletown's Terry Tipton. But to his dismay, Terry Tipton quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. When Castletown's Andrew Howard in the 75th minute got a chance for a shot 75th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Chelmsford's goalie prevented a goal. 84 minutes into the match, Stan Leather notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Castletown's Vincent Frampton. Vincent Frampton was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Phillip Dove took the ball and in the 88 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vincent Frampton. Vincent Frampton dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Tod Gale stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Andrew Howard's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. Tod Gale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oscar Lowe, who was totally free with the ball in the 98th minute.
