Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Avani Batra started the match with the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sudhir Sehgal in the 2nd minute of play forced Wotton-under-Edge's goalkeeper Ganjan Tipnis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 9th minute, Sudhir Sehgal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 10th match minute, Southampton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kanakraj Ngullie to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Southampton's Kistna Ojha got a free kick in the 12th minute. Sudhir Sehgal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Ganjan Tipnis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 25 minutes, Avani Batra managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wotton-under-Edge's supporters crossed their fingers, but Avani Batra was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 27th minute Channabasappa Pant shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sarda Kohli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Channabasappa Pant sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 32nd minute Sudhir Sehgal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ganjan Tipnis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 37 minutes into the game, Avani Batra cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Sarda Kohli was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Sudhir Sehgal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sudhir Sehgal was the one to do the kick off. If Avani Batra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mahinder Naik in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ganjan Tipnis saved Wotton-under-Edge from getting behind. Sudhir Sehgal struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Ganjan Tipnis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Southampton. In the 68th minute, Sudhir Sehgal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 70th minute, Wotton-under-Edge's Avani Batra ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Sarda Kohli. Sarda Kohli yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. Ehsan Deshmukh's long shot made the audience stand up and applaude when it rumbled by Ganjan Tipnis on his right side and into the goal. 74 minutes into the game it was 1-2. Karmavajra Gupta hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Mahinder Naik received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Ganjan Tipnis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 83rd match minute, Southampton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kistna Ojha to maneuver through the defense. Kistna Ojha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ganjan Tipnis having to interfere. When Sudhir Sehgal came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Southampton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sudhir Sehgal couldn't finish the play. The Wotton-under-Edge supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Wotton-under-Edge would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
