Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gramapala Chawla ran back to his position shaking his head. Laxman Sohota's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ganjan Tipnis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. In the 9th minute, Apacita Rahul got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 12 played minutes Wotton-under-Edge got a freekick which was hit by Karmavajra Gupta. Apacita Rahul blasted a shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ganjan Tipnis having to make a save. If Laxman Sohota had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 19th minute, Apacita Rahul ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ganjan Tipnis was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Ketubha Pradhan's late challenge caught a Ilkley City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ketubha Pradhan helped the player get up and apologised. Ketubha Pradhan kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. In the 25th minute Apacita Rahul shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ganjan Tipnis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 27th minute, Ketubha Pradhan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 28 minutes into the match, Ilkley City's Karunakara Hora broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 30 minutes into the match, Wotton-under-Edge's goal looked a bit too open when Apacita Rahul came free, but Ganjan Tipnis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Wotton-under-Edge getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Karmavajra Gupta hit a great ball. Ganjan Tipnis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Apacita Rahul in the 35th minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, Apacita Rahul notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Wotton-under-Edge's Ganjan Tipnis. Ganjan Tipnis was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ganjan Tipnis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laxman Sohota in the 43rd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Ilkley City's zone, Channabasappa Pant stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ramnath Mukherjee came out of the goal and Channabasappa Pant tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind Wotton-under-Edge's goalkeeper Ganjan Tipnis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After the first half Ilkley City were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Avani Batra to make the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Apacita Rahul in the 51st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ganjan Tipnis prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Laxman Sohota came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Ilkley City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Laxman Sohota couldn't finish the play. Apacita Rahul received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Ganjan Tipnis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Laxman Sohota in the 62ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ganjan Tipnis, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Laxman Sohota fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ganjan Tipnis having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Apacita Rahul's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ganjan Tipnis was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. With a little luck, Wotton-under-Edge's Ganjan Tipnis got control of the ball when Gramapala Chawla tried to sneak it across the goal line. Channabasappa Pant struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Ramnath Mukherjee didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wotton-under-Edge. In the 78thth minute of the game Apacita Rahul who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Wotton-under-Edge's Ganjan Tipnis was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Alok Gupta kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Wotton-under-Edge's Ganjan Tipnis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save Wotton-under-Edge from getting a goal against them. Channabasappa Pant recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Avani Batra struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Ramnath Mukherjee didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wotton-under-Edge.
