Avani Batra might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sardar Lyngdoh. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Avani Batra ran back to his position shaking his head. Sardar Lyngdoh made an important save on a dangerous shot by Channabasappa Pant in the 18th minute. In the 19th match minute, Wotton-under-Edge was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ketubha Pradhan to maneuver through the defense. When Citapati Mandal came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Dorney City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Citapati Mandal couldn't finish the play. Wotton-under-Edge's Ganjan Tipnis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Citapati Mandal in the 27th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Dhandapani Sabharwal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dorney City's supporters rose to their feet, but Dhandapani Sabharwal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ganjan Tipnis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Citapati Mandal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ganjan Tipnis having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Citapati Mandal in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ganjan Tipnis prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Channabasappa Pant could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Sardar Lyngdoh made a huge save. Channabasappa Pant sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Citapati Mandal stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 59th minute, Wotton-under-Edge's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Dhandapani Sabharwal fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 59 minutes into the match, Wotton-under-Edge's goal looked a bit too open when Citapati Mandal came free, but Ganjan Tipnis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 69th minute Channabasappa Pant shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sardar Lyngdoh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
