Manoj Japra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jayprakash Ghai, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Danavira Dias managed to get in a good position for a shot. Obsidian Sparta's supporters rose to their feet, but Danavira Dias was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aparaditya Mathur breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Manoj Japra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jayprakash Ghai in the 14th minute of play. Dhandapani Sagoo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Aparaditya Mathur having to make a save. Manoj Japra came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by The Lions's Jayprakash Ghai. But to his dismay, Jayprakash Ghai quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Aparaditya Mathur showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edha Prewal in the 23rd minute of the match. Obsidian Sparta's Manoj Japra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jayprakash Ghai in the 25th minute of play. If Dhandapani Sagoo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kulabhusana Bisla recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Aparaditya Mathur showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Danavira Dias, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kulabhusana Bisla in the 37th minute of play forced Obsidian Sparta's goalkeeper Manoj Japra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39th minute of the match Avajaya Pant shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Aparaditya Mathur showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jayprakash Ghai in the 41st minute of play forced Obsidian Sparta's goalkeeper Manoj Japra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 43rd minute Kulabhusana Bisla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manoj Japra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edha Prewal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aparaditya Mathur having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Edha Prewal to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute Jayprakash Ghai shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manoj Japra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Lions were awarded a corner in the 55th minute after Obsidian Sparta's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Asirisa Chana took the corner. Aparaditya Mathur showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dhandapani Sagoo, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Danavira Dias in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Aparaditya Mathur prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Manoj Japra made a fantastic save in the 70th minute, when Kulabhusana Bisla sent off a good shot on target. In the 72nd minute Jayprakash Ghai shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manoj Japra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kulabhusana Bisla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manoj Japra having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kulabhusana Bisla got free with Manoj Japra in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 79th minute, The Lions's Jayprakash Ghai dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dhandapani Sagoo in the 83rd minute of play forced The Lions's goalkeeper Aparaditya Mathur to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kulabhusana Bisla in the 84th minute of play forced Obsidian Sparta's goalkeeper Manoj Japra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aparaditya Mathur made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dhandapani Sagoo in the 86th minute of play. 93 minutes into the match, Jayprakash Ghai dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Manoj Japra, 0-4. The The Lions players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
