Ridwan Tanamal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Prabu Hasudungan in the 8th minute of the match. In the 9th minute, Agil Rayadi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Parlin Hutagaol kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. Joni Rangkuti came out of the goal in the 16th minute to try and stop a shot by PSM Poerwaredja's Eddy Butar-butar. But to his dismay, Eddy Butar-butar quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. 20 minutes into the match, Putra Ponrang's goal looked a bit too open when Eddy Butar-butar came free, but Joni Rangkuti reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 22nd minute, 于海坚 hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 28 minutes, Sapardi Djorghi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the PSM Poerwaredja and the Putra Ponrang players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee gave Putra Ponrang a penalty, 30 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Raka Lisandri, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of PSM Poerwaredja's M. Ridwan Tanamal. 1-2. Eddy Butar-butar might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Joni Rangkuti. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eddy Butar-butar ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, Putra Ponrang's Parlin Hutagaol got a free kick in the 39th minute. Parlin Hutagaol's late challenge caught a PSM Poerwaredja's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Parlin Hutagaol helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of PSM Poerwaredja booed when Putra Ponrang was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Parlin Hutagaol didn't get a good kick on the ball. 于海坚, 44 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The PSM Poerwaredja players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Putra Ponrang were winning 1-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Eddy Butar-butar made a kick off. Eddy Butar-butar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joni Rangkuti having to interfere. Parlin Hutagaol got his second yellow card in the match during the 54th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. A collision led to Putra Ponrang getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Parlin Hutagaol hit a great ball. In the 56th minute of the match 于海坚 shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Joni Rangkuti showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 57th minute Eddy Butar-butar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joni Rangkuti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eddy Butar-butar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joni Rangkuti having to interfere. Eddy Butar-butar might have been able to make a better finish in the 63rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Joni Rangkuti. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Joni Rangkuti showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sidharta Mulyana, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. After a rather tough play, Putra Ponrang's Gogon Wirahadikusumah got a free kick in the 76th minute. 80 minutes into the game, Prabu Hasudungan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Putra Ponrang's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave PSM Poerwaredja the free kick. After 80 played minutes Putra Ponrang got a freekick which was hit by Prabu Hasudungan. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eddy Butar-butar in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joni Rangkuti saved Putra Ponrang from getting behind. In the 88th minute Sidharta Mulyana shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joni Rangkuti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 92 played minutes PSM Poerwaredja got a freekick which was hit by Sapardi Djorghi. After a defensive mix-up in PSM Poerwaredja's zone, Raka Lisandri stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. M. Ridwan Tanamal came out of the goal and Raka Lisandri tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
