Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Soc Trang's Phan Tuan Hoang started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Phạm Hoai showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Nam, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. Phạm Hoai showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Tho, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Nguyễn Tho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Soc Trang's Phạm Hoai played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Tho in the 21st minute of play. Lê Nguyet hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Phạm Duong took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Trần Diem, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 31 minutes into the match, Nguyễn Tho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Phạm Hoai. Soc Trang's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nguyễn Tho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Nguyễn Nam blasted a shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Phạm Hoai having to make a save. When Soc Trang's Đặng Cong Vinh in the 41st minute got a chance for a shot 41st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Cao Lanh's goalie prevented a goal. With an all-out effort, Soc Trang's Phạm Duong threw himself towards the right post 43 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Phan Tuan Hoang, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 43 minutes into the game, Trịnh Cong Vinh was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cao Lanh's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Soc Trang the free kick. After 44 played minutes Cao Lanh got a freekick which was hit by Trịnh Cong Vinh. After the first half Cao Lanh were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The crowd rose to their feet as Nguyễn Tho kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Phạm Hoai. That made the score 0-3 in the 55 minute of play. Cao Lanh's Phạm Duong played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Đặng Cong Vinh in the 62nd minute of play. The supporters of Soc Trang booed when Cao Lanh was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Trịnh Cong Vinh didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Phan Tuan Hoang had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Phạm Hoai showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Tho in the 69th minute of the match. The Soc Trang fans' excitement grew in the 80th match minute when Soc Trang's Phan Tuan Hoang looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 82nd match minute, Soc Trang was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Phan Tinh to maneuver through the defense. In the 85th match minute, Cao Lanh was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Trịnh Cong Vinh to maneuver through the defense. Phạm Duong showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Phan Tuan Hoang in the 91st minute of the match. 92 minutes into the match, Phan Tuan Hoang notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Cao Lanh's Phạm Duong. Phạm Duong was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The Soc Trang supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Cao Lanh's performance. The match ended with a win for Cao Lanh.
