Nguyễn Duc came out of the goal and Phạm Nam tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 5th minute Nguyễn Nga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Phan Tu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 6th minute the ball was on its way in behind Quang Nam's goalkeeper Phan Tu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Nguyễn Duc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lý Hoang, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Phạm Nam blasted a shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nguyễn Duc having to make a save. After 12 played minutes Dien Bien Phu got a freekick which was hit by Liễu Duc. Lê Xuan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Nguyễn Duc made a huge save. If Lê Xuan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nguyễn Duc stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Phạm Nam's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. After 31 minutes, Lê Xuan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Quang Nam and the Dien Bien Phu players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 31st minute, Lê Xuan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Dien Bien Phu's Trần Dung got a free kick in the 33rd minute. In the 38th minute Phạm Nam shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nguyễn Duc saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 41st match minute, Dien Bien Phu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Trương Hung to maneuver through the defense. Lê Xuan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Nguyễn Duc made a huge save. After 45 minutes of play, Dien Bien Phu's Nguyễn Nga made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Phan Tu was left in no man's land by his defense there! Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Phạm Nam was the one to do the kick off. If Nguyễn Khoi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 55 minutes into the game, Nguyễn Nga recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Phan Tu. Nguyễn Nga showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. 58 minutes into the match, Quang Nam's goalkeeper Phan Tu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nguyễn Khoi. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nguyễn Nga during the 59th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 59 played minutes Dien Bien Phu got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Nga. In the 62nd match minute, Dien Bien Phu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Trương Hung to maneuver through the defense. Nguyễn Thien charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nguyễn Thien the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 68 minutes into the match, Quang Nam's Phạm Nam sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nguyễn Duc narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Nguyễn Nga struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Phan Tu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dien Bien Phu. When Nguyễn Khoi came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Dien Bien Phu fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nguyễn Khoi couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Quang Nam's Phan Tu got control of the ball when Nguyễn Khoi tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 77 minutes, Lý Hoang mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Quang Nam and the Dien Bien Phu players grew even worse after the yellow card. Lý Hoang kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. A collision led to Dien Bien Phu getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Liễu Duc hit a great ball. Nguyễn Khoi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
