Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Võ Tong kicked off to start the match. In the 14th minute, Nguyễn Hieu Ngan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Manchester Uniteds's Trương Liem played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Chung in the 17th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Võ Tong in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Trương Liem prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Nguyễn Chung sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Trần Phuc charged in rather forcefully in the 28th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Trần Phuc the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Manchester Uniteds getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Trần Phuc hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Manchester Uniteds's zone, Võ Tong stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Trương Liem came out of the goal and Võ Tong tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Võ Tong's late challenge caught a Manchester Uniteds's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Võ Tong helped the player get up and apologised. Trương Liem made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Hieu Ngan in the 40th minute of play. If Phan Hoa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 46 minutes into the match, Manchester Uniteds's goal looked a bit too open when Võ Tong came free, but Trương Liem reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nguyễn Chung scored 1-1 in the 47th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Trương Liem, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Phạm Viet to strike the kick off in the second half. Trương Liem made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nguyễn Chung in the 54th minute. In the 55th minute Võ Tong shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Trương Liem saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Manchester Uniteds defense, Tôn Bien kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Trương Liem. The Manchester Uniteds fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Trương Liem should have stopped the shot. The crowd rose to their feet as Nguyễn Chung kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Trương Liem. That made the score 1-3 in the 62 minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Võ Tong in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Trương Liem saved Manchester Uniteds from getting behind. In the 70th minute, Nguyễn Chung ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Trương Liem was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. Trương Liem didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nguyễn Chung went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-5 was the resulting score. The crowd rose to their feet as Võ Tong kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Trương Liem. That made the score 1-6 in the 78 minute of play. Nguyễn Chung fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trương Liem having to interfere. After 88 played minutes Manchester Uniteds got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Tuyet. After 92 minutes of play Manchester Uniteds's Trần Phuc was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Nam Dinh booed when Manchester Uniteds was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Trần Phuc didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 96th minute, Phạm Viet got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nguyễn Chung fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trương Liem having to interfere. Nam Dinh's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
