Phan Rang-Thap Cham's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lê Minh was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that Lê Minh's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nguyễn Minh was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. Nguyễn Phu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Võ Hong Minh struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. In the 37th minute the ball was on its way in behind Phan Rang-Thap Cham's goalkeeper Trần Bay, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 39 minutes had been played when some careless play by Phan Rang-Thap Cham's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Nguyễn Loc was slow to take the kick. During this time Vi Thanh's players had a chance to rest. Vi Thanh's Võ Hong Minh got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 45th minute, Phan Rang-Thap Cham's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Võ Hong Minh fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 48 minutes into the match, Vi Thanh's Nguyễn Phu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Trần Bay narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee showed Nguyễn Duc the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 51 played minutes Vi Thanh got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Duc. When Phạm Tuan fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vi Thanh's protests and gave Phạm Tuan a yellow card for diving instead. In the 56th minute of the match Phan Rang-Thap Cham got a corner. Vi Thanh's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Nguyễn Nhật Minh ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Võ Dung got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Nguyễn Minh quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Võ Hong Minh managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vi Thanh's supporters rose to their feet, but Võ Hong Minh was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Trần Bay breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nguyễn Minh showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Huy, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. In the 63rd match minute, Vi Thanh was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Huỳnh Xuan to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nguyễn Huy in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nguyễn Minh prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Võ Hong Minh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nguyễn Minh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Huy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Phan Rang-Thap Cham booed when Vi Thanh was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Duc didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 81stth minute of the game Võ Hong Minh who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Phan Rang-Thap Cham's Trần Bay was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
