A very good chance for a goal. After 46 minutes, Nguyễn Dung mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cao Lanh and the Vi Thanh players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Cao Lanh's Nguyễn Dung got a free kick in the 46th minute. When Huỳnh Xuan fell near the penalty area in the 48th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vi Thanh's protests and gave Huỳnh Xuan a yellow card for diving instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Trần Hanh got free with Nguyễn Minh in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After the first half Vi Thanh were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nguyễn Quang Thanh to strike the kick off in the second half. After 56 minutes of play, Cao Lanh's Nguyễn Quang Thanh made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vi Thanh's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cao Lanh the free kick. A collision led to Vi Thanh getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Phạm Tuan hit a great ball. Dương Tấn Dũng charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dương Tấn Dũng the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Nguyễn Phu in the 78thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Nguyễn Hong, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Lâm Tu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 101st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Cao Lanh supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Vi Thanh's performance. The match ended with a win for Vi Thanh.
