A very good chance for a goal. 30 minutes into the game, Nguyễn Anh Hung was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hanoi's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Giang Vu the free kick. When Nguyễn Hieu fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hanoi's protests and gave Nguyễn Hieu a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Giang Vu booed when Hanoi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Hieu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hanoi's Trần Dung played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Phan Anh Hung in the 39th minute of play. Nguyễn Thuy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Trần Dung tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 44th minute, Phan Anh Hung got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nguyễn Thuy in the 48th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Trần Dung prevented the ball from getting in the gole.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Phan Anh Hung stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Hanoi's Trần Dung proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save Hanoi from getting a goal against them. A well placed Phan Anh Hung short distance shot in the 59th minute ended with a hard ball which without a chance for the goalkeeper went staright up into the goalkeepers left cross. Nguyễn Diem's late challenge caught a Giang Vu's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nguyễn Diem helped the player get up and apologised. In the 65th minute, Nguyễn Diem hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 66 minutes into the game, Phan Anh Hung recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Trần Dung. Phan Anh Hung showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Phan Anh Hung couldn't finish the play. The Hanoi fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Giang Vu were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
