Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Trần Dong could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 3rd minute of the match, but Đặng Phuc made a huge save. In the 3rd match minute, Viet Tri was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hoàng Phu to maneuver through the defense. Đặng Phuc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bùi Phuc, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Bùi Phuc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Bùi Phuc came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Haiphong fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bùi Phuc couldn't finish the play. After 13 played minutes Viet Tri got a freekick which was hit by Trần Cong Vinh. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nguyễn Phuoc in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Đặng Phuc saved Viet Tri from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Phuoc in the 19th minute of play forced Viet Tri's goalkeeper Đặng Phuc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Bùi Phuc managed to get in a good position for a shot. Haiphong's supporters rose to their feet, but Bùi Phuc was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Đặng Phuc breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nguyễn Cadeo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 22 minutes into the game, Bùi Phuc lined in a short shot 1-0 behind a frustrated Đặng Phuc. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Trần Cong Vinh managed to get in a good position for a shot. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bùi Phuc to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Viet Tri getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. After a defensive mix-up in Viet Tri's zone, Nguyễn Cadeo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Đặng Phuc came out of the goal and Nguyễn Cadeo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Đặng Phuc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bùi Phuc in the 65th minute of the match. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 5-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 85 minutes into the match, Viet Tri's goal looked a bit too open when Bùi Phuc came free, but Đặng Phuc reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Đặng Phuc didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nguyễn Phuoc went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 6-1 was the resulting score. After 92 played minutes Viet Tri got a freekick which was hit by Trần Cong Vinh. The Haiphong fans' excitement grew in the 94th match minute when Haiphong's Bùi Phuc looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 7-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. For all the effort they put into the match, the Viet Tri players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Haiphong.
