After 15 minutes, Trần Van Quyen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ha Long and the Tien Giang players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Ha Long getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Phạm Nhật Minh prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Nguyễn Minh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nguyễn Quang Thanh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Nguyễn Minh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nguyễn Minh in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Phạm Nhật Minh saved Tien Giang from getting behind. Phạm Nhật Minh showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Quang Thanh, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. Nguyễn Quang Thanh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Phạm Nhật Minh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Nguyễn Minh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.
The wind increased when Nguyễn Minh made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Đinh Phuong got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Phạm Nhật Minh was a little too slow when Nguyễn Minh got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 62nd minute. The score was now 0-3. Nguyễn Quang Thanh could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Phạm Nhật Minh made a huge save. Nguyễn Minh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phạm Nhật Minh having to interfere. Nguyễn Quang Thanh struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Phạm Nhật Minh didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ha Long. The audience was convinced that Nguyễn Minh's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Phạm Nhật Minh was relentless in the 81st minute of the game. Nguyễn Quang Thanh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Đinh Phuong kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Phạm Nhật Minh showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Minh in the 93rd minute of the match. When the match was over Ha Long could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Tien Giang throughout the match.
