After 65 minutes, Trần Hieu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the VietNam and the Lai Chau players grew even worse after the yellow card. Trần Hieu kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. Nguyễn Quang Thanh's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Trần Nam read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. Trần Nam showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Phạm Duc, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. 75 minutes into the game, VietNam's Lê Loc nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nguyễn Hoang made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. 81 minutes into the match, VietNam's goal looked a bit too open when Nguyễn Quang Thanh came free, but Trần Nam reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
