Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) After a defensive mix-up in Can Tho's zone, Phan Tuan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Phan Chi came out of the goal and Phan Tuan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nguyễn Thuy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hồ Nam in the 8th minute of the match. Nguyễn Huỳnh was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 9 minutes into the match. After 9 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Can Tho! Trần Loc struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Phan Chi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hải Phòng FC. Phạm Thi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Thanh in the 28th minute of play forced Hải Phòng FC's goalkeeper Nguyễn Thuy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Can Tho defense, Trần Loc kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Phan Chi. The Can Tho fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Phan Chi should have stopped the shot. Trần Thi Ngoc's late challenge caught a Can Tho's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Trần Thi Ngoc helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Can Tho booed when Hải Phòng FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Trần Thi Ngoc didn't get a good kick on the ball. Can Tho's Đinh Hieu shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 38th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Nguyễn Thuy but with some difficulty. In the 42nd minute, Nguyễn Phu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind Hải Phòng FC's goalkeeper Nguyễn Thuy, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
Hải Phòng FC's Phạm Thi got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Trần Loc received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Phan Chi came out and tried to block the shot, but Trần Loc slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 60th minute. Nguyễn Thuy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Cong Vinh in the 64th minute of play. After 67 played minutes Hải Phòng FC got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Phu. In the 73rd minute Vũ Huy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nguyễn Thuy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Trần Thi Ngoc hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Trần Loc blasted a shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Phan Chi having to make a save. Nguyễn Cong Vinh took the ball and in the 88 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nguyễn Thuy. Nguyễn Thuy dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Hải Phòng FC were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Can Tho's much stronger midfield.
