Phan Hoang showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lê Phu in the 5th minute of the match. After having played for 6 minutes, Phùng Tuan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ninh Binh's supporters crossed their fingers, but Phùng Tuan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ninh Binh's Nguyễn Tan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Văn Thanh in the 8th minute of play. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Phùng Tuan couldn't finish the play. 37 minutes into the match, Ninh Binh's goalkeeper Nguyễn Tan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nguyễn Nam. After 38 played minutes Dong Thap got a freekick which was hit by Trịnh Minh-ha. In the 38th minute, Phùng Tuan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Ninh Binh's Lê Phu in the 40th minute got a chance for a shot 40th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Dong Thap's goalie prevented a goal. Lê Phu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Phùng Tuan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lê Phu was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lê Phu in the 55th minute of play forced Dong Thap's goalkeeper Phan Hoang to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Phan Hoang took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lê Phu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Phan Hoang made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Phùng Tuan sent off a good shot on target. Dong Thap's Phan Hoang proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save Dong Thap from getting a goal against them. In the 76th match minute, Dong Thap was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Trịnh Minh-ha to maneuver through the defense. Phùng Tuan's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 77thth minute, Phan Hoang skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Lương Hoai kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Võ Tuan kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. Ninh Binh were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Dong Thap to leave the ground with a draw.
