Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Vương Thanh started the match with the kick off. Lê Khoi made a fantastic save in the 3rd minute, when Nguyễn Ho sent off a good shot on target. If Hoàng Nhật Minh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Đặng Hoa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Nguyễn Minh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 16 minutes, Vương Thanh managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hà Nội's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vương Thanh was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nguyễn Ho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 22nd minute, Vương Thanh got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ben Tre's Nghiêm Duy got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vương Thanh scored 1-1 in the 40th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nguyễn Minh, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vương Thanh in the 44th minute of play forced Ben Tre's goalkeeper Nguyễn Minh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 47 minutes, Vương Thanh managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hà Nội's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vương Thanh was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Nguyễn Ho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lê Khoi having to interfere. 55 minutes into the match, Hà Nội's goal looked a bit too open when Nghiêm Duy came free, but Lê Khoi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nghiêm Duy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match clock showed 67 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Nghiêm Duy sped through Hà Nội's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Lê Khoi. Vương Thanh struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Nguyễn Minh didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hà Nội. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nguyễn Ho in the 76th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lê Khoi saved Hà Nội from getting behind. Nghiêm Duy took the ball and in the 81 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lê Khoi. Lê Khoi dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Nguyễn Ho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Lê Khoi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ben Tre's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
