If Vương Thanh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. In the 42nd minute Hà Nội were awarded a corner. Lê Hieu went to the cornerflag to take it. Lê Hieu made a great header on Hà Nội's corner, it was just that Nguyendepzai's Trần Phuong managed to reach the ball for a save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vương Thanh during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Hà Nội's goalkeeper Lê Khoi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Hà Nội's zone, Dương Bay stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lê Khoi came out of the goal and Dương Bay tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 96th minute, Vương Thanh ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Trần Phuong was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Hà Nội fully deserved thier win.
