An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Huynh Duc in the 11th minute of play forced Kontum's goalkeeper Nguyễn Cong Vinh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Võ Duc was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 12th minute. Nguyễn Dong charged in rather forcefully in the 28th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nguyễn Dong the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 27th minute of the game. One of Kontum:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ba Ria:s goal. In the 29th minute there was a penalty for Ba Ria. In the 36th match minute, Kontum was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Huỳnh Pham to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Phạm Dung in the 68th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Phạm Nguyet saved Ba Ria from getting behind.
